Applications to be received by 12pm on Monday 7th of December 2015 Grade E65: £31,301- £54,199 p.a. We are looking for a Clinical Lead to help establish and coordinate an international network of project sites in Africa and Asia working on improving care during and following acute illness amongst undernourished and vulnerable children. The network, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will conduct a multisite cohort study to determine risk factors and mechanisms related to increased mortality, leading to clinical trials of potential interventions. You will have a very high level of responsibility for the clinical aspects of network activities including providing ?hands-on? clinical training and mentorship, ensuring clinical standards and optimising harmonisation and quality of clinical data. The post involves working closely with study teams in Africa and Asia with a high level of communication. You will also work closely with the project data manager and statistician to undertake interim and substantive analyses, and write regular reports and make presentations. There will be the opportunity to develop and undertake sub-studies or pilot trials aligned with the cohort study. You will have a medical qualification with either specialist training in paediatrics or another relevant specialty, or extensive experience in the management of children with acute illness and malnutrition in low-income settings. You will need to be self-sufficient and be able to work unsupervised with an unpredictable timescale. This position is available on a full-time basis for a fixed-term of 4 years in the first instance. Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Monday 7 December 2015 will be considered.
