I'm currently working in South Sudan with conflict injured adults. Post surgery due to the high levels of malnutrition amongst the adult population recovery of wounds is very poor often leading to infection or breaking down of wounds requiring additional surgery.
Has anyone run a hospital based project along the lines of supplementary feeding or using RUTF to enhance diets for the patients?
Ideally i'd like to improve the hospital food overall as we can't provide very good diversity as the local food just isn't there. There must be a benefit to all acutely ill patients in the hospital and not just a nutrition program for my SAM children.
Failing that i can add RUTF to their diet.what dose etc?
What are peoples experience in this area?
