We are recruiting a dynamic and flexible Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor who will help us improve the outcomes for infants and young children in challenging emergency contexts.

This position is 24 months, and based preferably in the UK. There is a strong possibility of extension beyond 24 months.
Please consider applying if you do not have the right to work in the UK.

Save the Children is mandated to focus on infants and young children and our Humanitarian Nutrition Team has developed international expertise on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) to address the increased vulnerability of this age group during emergencies. As the IYCF-E Humanitarian Nutrition Adviser, you will improve response delivery in rapid onset and protracted emergencies globally, through in-country deployments and remote technical assistance to governments, country level nutrition clusters and sectors, the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) and local and international non-government organisations.

You will:

•Lead and contribute to global initiatives to improve guidelines, standards, SOPs and capacity development in IYCF-E.
•Lead the dissemination and implementation of Save the Children’s IYCF-E Strategy 2018-2021
•Remotely and on deployment, advise on the appropriate IYCF-E assessments, surveys, program design and M&E.
•Advise on the integration of IYCF-E into all relevant sectors including health, mental health, WASH, food security and livelihoods, child protection, and education
•Build capacity of Save the Children and other partners
•Support the development of preparedness plans and response strategies
•Advise on IYCF-E research that is both underway and planned.

We are seeking an individual with extensive experience in IYCF-E in a range of humanitarian contexts and challenging environments. A skilled coordinator with strong technical knowledge and ability to engage a broad stakeholder base, you will be motivated by advancing the quality of IYCF-E programming at the field level and contributing to improving global policies and strategies. You must have:

•Strong technical knowledge in IYCF-E and experience in IYCFE programming
•Demonstrable skills in coordination and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including the nutrition cluster, partners and the Ministry of Health
•Experience in leading and designing IYCF-E assessments
•Highly developed communication and writing skills
•Experience in capacity building
•Ability to be flexible, innovative and adaptive in challenging contexts
•The flexibility to undertake some travel, often working in stressful and insecure environments.

If you are passionate about infant and young child feeding, and thrive in challenging emergency contexts, please apply. In return, the humanitarian nutrition team at SCUK will support you to deliver results as a global leader in IYCF-E.

Closing date: 17 December 2017
Shortlisting will start in early December so please apply early.
