Dear colleague.

For the last six years I have been investigating skin changes in severe acute malnutrition (SAM).
During these years I have experienced that there are great variations in what colleagues report on skin, depending on their location in the world.

I have published an article on the subject, showing severe skin damage in relation to SAM in Ugandan children. I found a relation between, what looks like lichenoid skin changes and increased risk of death.
("Characterization and scoring of skin changes in severe acute malnutrition in children between 6 months and
5 years of age")

The purpose with this informal approach, is to get a quick overview of the global distribution of these skin changes and the extent of the problem.

So, if you are working with SAM patients I would be grateful if I could send you an email with 3 questions and a clinical picture of the skin changes (as I cannot upload pictures here).
Letting me know that you have never seen it before even though you have seen thousands of SAM patients is just as much a help to me.

I am excited to hear from you.
