Job Purpose • To provide technical support for the post implementation and wrap up activities of the emergency nutrition programming in the most vulnerable counties in 4 provinces in DPRK – including screening data analysis , monitoring and assessing the implementation in the target locations and identifying need improvement areas and support in developing a proposal for follow up work . • Key accountabilities include (but are not limited to): • Working with the national health staff in monitoring the implementation of therapeutic feeding programme in the target locations and supporting the hospital and clinic health staff in identifying need improvement areas for future nutrition work • Identify constraints to implementation within the control of EUPS Unit 2 and make recommendations for future nutrition work • Provide technical support in the completion of the narrative final report including analysis of the screening data • Provide technical support and advice in developing a proposal for an integrated project – nutrition, health and food security • Provide support to the national health project officers in the implementation of a IYCF component in our integrated health programme . MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING IN NORTH KOREA Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of: o Sphere Minimum Standards. o Save the Children UK Emergency Nutrition Assessment guidelines o The Operational Guidance on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies and accompanying training modules and the International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes. Infant and young child feeding training materials (WHO) o Community Management of Acute Malnutrition guidelines (Valid International, WHO and National guidelines in-country). o Ration calculation – to ensure appropriate and balanced nutritional composition. o Use of micronutrient powders (e.g. Sprinkles) • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for the transfer of programmes from emergency to a longer-term strategy. Skills: • Ability to assess programme needs to make quick decisions; be a self-starter • Ability to work within a team • Ability to set up a strong rapport and trust within the community, government, UN bodies, and key stakeholders. • Ability to develop or adapt materials necessary e.g. for training, monitoring • Ability to write concise reports and good communication skills. • Ability to articulate verbal asks and advocacy messages clearly. • Strong representation capacity • Training skills in ensuring on-going capacity building. • Ability to work under pressure, be adaptable and be able to manage concurrently running tasks where assessment time is limited before programme implementation is required. Qualifications and experience: • Extensive experience of emergency nutrition work including undertaking assessments, contributing to strategies, designing and implementing programmes and monitoring and evaluation • BSc Nutrition or equivalent; (MSc/MPH desirable, nursing/medical qualification desirable. Nb. medically qualified and experienced personnel will also be considered if applicable and desired by the candidate, for joint health duties) • Fluent written and spoken English, Korean desirable Child Protection The responsibilities of the nutritionist will require him / her to have regular contact with children or young people and, in the overseas context all posts are considered to be level 3 posts in view of potential situations which may allow expatriates unsupervised access to vulnerable children and young people.
