Emergencies and conflicts are becoming increasingly common, disrupting essential services and threatening maternal and child nutrition and health. While global guidance often emphasizes supporting mothers, evidence shows that fathers, grandmothers, and other family members play pivotal roles in shaping infant feeding decisions and practices. To protect, promote, and support safe feeding during crises, it is critical to engage the wider family system.

On September 11, 2025 at 9am EDT/1pm GMT, please join the FINE CoP for the, "Engaging Family Members in Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E)" webinar where we will explore innovative approaches to family engagement in IYCF-E from diverse country contexts: Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ukraine, and Yemen. Speakers from the Crisis Response and Resilience team at FHI 360 will share lessons learned on how families can be mobilized to support nutrition and strengthen resilience during emergencies. Register here!

Our speakers include:

  • Michal O’ Brien, Technical Director, Crisis Response and Resilience, FHI 360 HQ
  • Alessandro Iellamo, Senior Emergency Nutrition Adviser, Crisis Response and Resilience, FHI 360 HQ
  • Dr. Celestine Emeka Ekwuluo, Nutrition Coordinator, Crisis Response and Resilience, FHI 360 Ukraine

  • Solomon Atuman, Nutrition Coordinator, Crisis Response and Resilience, FHI 360 Nigeria
  • Doreen Alumaya, PhD Candidate, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (moderator)

This session will provide practical insights for practitioners, researchers, and policymakers seeking to design more inclusive, family-centered strategies for IYCF-E. We look forward to seeing you!

At the end of the webinar, we will have time to re-connect and network for anyone who would like to stay on.
